I kept looking for another book in the series, but never could find one anywhere. I had no idea that there were graphic novel adaptations to the that book I've read until I just happened to stumble upon the first graphic in a used book store over a year ago. I've read tons of Dean Koontz books through the years, but so far, I've only the 1st the book in his Frankenstein series.

Same with this ideal of evil science, against good faithful…life isn’t a binary thing. This kind of grand conspiracy nonsense is pretty silly. Then adding more into the narrative that Victor is the overarching evil behind every horrible dictator in the 20th century is getting kind of old. Not as bad as the Deathstalker series where every time he gets in bad situation they just get new powers by concentrating hard, but a few more and it will be there. The new people randomly morphing into different things, for seemingly no reason, really doesn’t make sense. The problems are ones that make little sense in terms of the story. Especially since he supposedly started his work as genetic engineering was just starting, and the complexities of the brain.

The continuation of the theme of new creations breaking down in the story makes sense. There is still some dragging, but it’s not as lengthy or as forced. The main characters fleshed out more, and it became less stilted from pointless exhaustive monologues about greater beings and forced stupid humor.

The story came out a great deal more believable, with a number of good characterizations of supporting characters. If you have time to kill, and don’t hate yourself too much after reading the first book to continue with the story, it won’t be as much of a disappointment. Much better than the first book, which is not difficult, but it still suffers from a number of problems.
