

It was an emotional morning for Miss Flynn.

She was even more surprised to learn that several of her family members, some from out of town, including her father, had been seated in the rear of the church to witness the presentation. Miss Flynn was surprised in church in front of the entire student body when her name was announced and the award was presented by Assistant Superintendent, Tim Pivarnik. Each winner will have the opportunity to pursue college course work through a scholarship as well. Angel Award winners receive a monetary and commemorative award and recognition from the superintendent of schools. Named in honor of the Holy Angels – the patrons of the Diocese of Gary, is given to recognize the outstanding, creative, and innovative accomplishments of individual teachers in the Diocese of Gary. The Angel Award is the diocese equivalent of a teacher of the year award. She recently became the Diocese of Gary Angel Award Recipient for elementary teachers.
